SIESTA AUDIO

about siesta audio

The fisherman and
the businessman.

A businessman from New York took a vacation in a small fishing village on the Mexican coast. Late one morning he watched a little boat come in with a few big yellowfin tuna, and the fisherman tie up, stretch, and start home.

"That's good fish," the businessman said. "Why are you back so early?"

"I have enough for today," said the fisherman.

"But what do you do with the rest of your day?"

"I sleep late. I fish a little. I play with my kids. I take a siesta with my wife in the afternoon, and in the evening I walk into the village, drink a little wine, and play guitar with my friends. I have a full life, señor."

The businessman laughed. "I have an MBA. I can help you. Stay out longer, catch more fish, buy a bigger boat. Then more boats. Cut out the middleman, open your own cannery. You'd move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles, then New York, where you'd run the whole operation."

"And how long would that take?"

"Fifteen, maybe twenty years."

"And then what, señor?"

"Then the best part. When the time is right, you announce an IPO, sell your company, and become very rich. Millions."

"Millions. And then what?"

"Then you retire. You move to a small village on the coast, where you sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife in the afternoon, and stroll into the village in the evening, where you drink wine and play guitar with your amigos."

The fisherman smiled, picked up his fish, and went home for lunch.

Siesta Audio is what happens when you finally hear the punchline.

We spent years building the boats. This is the guitar in the evening. Warm little machines for slow afternoons, made in the hours the businessman was trying to buy back, for anyone else who would rather play now than someday.

the first machine is La Niebla, a two-knob shoegaze fog pedal.
